Alfonso Ortal’s extensive sectoral expertise has enabled him to develop a unique vision centred on enhancing Europe’s energy independence through innovative and financially sustainable solutions. Prior to joining Verdian, he held executive positions at Galp, notably serving as CEO of Galp Solar, where he spearheaded the company’s expansion in Portugal and Spain while significantly reducing its carbon footprint. His career trajectory also encompasses deep expertise in energy trading and business development, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation and strategic market positioning.
His professional background includes tenures at Bain & Company (New York and Toronto), where he advised on digital transformation, private equity, and growth strategies; Tesla (California), where he identified market expansion opportunities for its energy division; and E.ON, where he held various leadership roles in renewable strategy, energy management, and international market expansion. Alfonso Ortal holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in Industrial Engineering from Cranfield University and the University of Seville.
Tomás García serves as Senior Director and Head of Energy & Infrastructure Advisory for Spain & Portugal at JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) since April 2020, leading transactional and financial advisory services for renewable energy assets and platforms across Iberia.
His previous roles include Managing Director of Solar & Wind Projects in Spain & Portugal at BayWa r.e. (2019), Head of Business Development EMEA, Energy Group at Canadian Solar (2017-2018), and multiple positions at SunEdison including General Manager for Rural Electrification EMEA (2014-2015) and Head of Strategy & Market Development for EMEA & LATAM (2011-2014). Earlier experience includes Market Strategy Manager at First Solar (2008-2011) and Strategy Consultant at Monitor Group (2004-2008).
Tomás has also worked as a venture capitalist, research scientist specializing in solar PV materials, university teacher, and FX trader. He was PhD student at Florida International University, holds an MSci from King's College London, and earned a Master's in Physics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish and English, with functional Italian.
Stefano Cavriani is Founder & Director of EGO Energy, one of Italy's leading energy traders and aggregators, specializing in PPAs, BESS tolling, and grid flexibility services.
A mechanical engineer with nearly 30 years of experience in the energy sector, he previously held senior roles at Ansaldo Energia and Axpo before founding Elettrogreen in 2005, helping pioneer renewable energy trading in Italy.
In 2011, he founded EGO Energy, which was fully acquired by Shell in 2023. Stefano also serves on the boards of Italia Solare and Elettricità Futura, contributing to the advancement of Italy's energy transition.
Javier Berriochoa is an Industrial Engineer specialized in Electrical Engineering with over 15 years of experience in the energy and renewable sectors. He currently serves as Vice President France and Iberia as well as Head of Corporate Finance at RP Global, a privately-owned European IPP, where he has been a key contributor for the past 11 years.
In his role, Javier oversees RP Global’s activities in France & Iberia and leads complex financial structuring and M&A transactions, supporting the company’s growth across various markets. Prior to joining RP Global, he worked at a major Spanish industrial group, focusing on the development and financing of energy projects.
Manuel has over 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure investments, leading the full investment lifecycle from origination and execution to value creation and exit.
Since joining IKAV in 2019, he has been instrumental in shaping the firm's investment strategy in Iberia, sourcing and executing projects representing more than EUR 500 million in investments, while also leading the Group's global credit investment practice.
Prior to IKAV, Manuel held various executive roles at Banco Santander and ICO. He is a member of the Investment Committee. Manuel holds a Master's degree in Finance and Markets and an M.Sc. in Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He also serves as an external lecturer at IEB.
Luciana Ferro is Director of Corporate Development at BRUC Energy, a Spanish renewable IPP with over 3GW operating or under construction and a multi-GW development pipeline increasingly focused on co-located storage. A founding member of the company, she leads BRUC's business plan, portfolio strategy and M&A, and is the internal reference for its battery storage deployment program. She previously held structured finance, investment and investor relations roles at Abengoa, and began her career at Ericsson in Brazil.
